ELSIE PALMER PAYNE (1884-1971)

Born: San Antonio, TX.

Studied: Chicago Fine Art Academy, Best's Art School.

Member: California Water Color Society, Laguna Beach Art Association.

In about 1918, Elsie Palmer Payne moved to Laguna Beach and eventually settled in Los Angeles. She and her husband, Edgar, were founding members of the Laguna Beach Art Association and Elsie was a co-counder of the Women Painters of the West. She exhibited her transparent watercolor and gouache paintings nationally and ran the Elsie Palmer Art School in Beverly Hills.
