Peter Nielsen was born in Denmark. He came to the U.S. at the age of 14 and settled in Chicago. Nielsen studied briefly at the AIC, but remained essentially a self taught artist. By the 1920s he had settled in Los Angeles where he remained until his demise. His works include landscapes, coastals, harbors and still lifes.
