HELEN BARKER (1917-1998) Painter.

Born in Salt Lake City, UT in 1917. The Barker family settled in Los Angeles in the 1920's. Helen began painting in the 1930s and remained self-taught except for a brief period by Christian Von Schneideu. She and husband, artist Cecil Lefeuvre, settled on the Monterey Peninsula in the early 1950s and operated art galleries there until 1987. Mrs. Lefeuvre died in Carmel in 1998. Working in oil and watercolor, she painted florals, seascapes and landscapes of the area.
