Dana Bartlett (1882-1957)...Born: Ionia, MI

Studied: Art Students League (New York)

Member: California Water Color Society.

Dana Bartlett studied with William Merritt Chase in New York, and worked as a commercial artist for the Foster and KJeiser Company in Oregon before moving to Los Angeles in 1915. Bartlett was one of the original fourteen artists to exhibit in the first California Water Color Society show in 1921 and was the Society's first president. Many of Dana's watercolors were decorative in design, sometimes incorporating pastels to give unusual effects. He taught at the Chouinard Art Institute and owned an art gallery that featured watercolors, sketches, etchings and small paintings.
