Duncan Alanson Spencer (1911-1999)...Born: Los Angeles, CA

Studied: Chouinard Art Institute (Los Angeles)

Member: American Watercolor Society.

Duncan Spencer studied art at the Chouinard Art Institute in the 1930s, then took further instruction in watercolor painting from Arthur Beaumont. From the 1940s through the 1970s, he worked in the motion picture industry as a scenic artist. In addition, Spencer produced California Style watercolor paintings depicting regional subjects and exhibited them in annual watercolor society shows. Spencer also produced a number of large scale background dioramas featuring landscape subjects, which were used in museum and corporate displays.
