STEWART ROBINSON (1887-1967)

Born in Dundee, Scotland on Aug. 19, 1887. Stewart Robertson studied art at the National Gallery in London before arriving in Los Angeles in 1924. He brought with him 500 finished canvases. At MGM Robinson painted historical art for movie sets. Primarily a portraitist, Stewart Robinson also painted marine scenes of the California coast from his yacht. He was a dog-show enthusiast and did many etchings, oils, and watercolors of various breeds of dogs. Stewart Robertson died in Los Angeles on Jan. 9, 1970.
