Member: California Water Color Society

Born in Keene, New Hampshire, Hayward was a painter of landscapes, figures, abstraction, and architectural subjects while working as a professional architect. He graduated from the Boston Institute of Technology and then worked in Boston as an architect for the firm of Cram and Ferguson. In his spare time, he did watercolor painting and had his first exhibition in 1922. In the late 1920s, he moved to Los Angeles and worked for Ernest Lundine, architect. Hayward's designs include the Los Angeles Stock Exchange and Doheny Library. While following this profession, he continued to paint and his subjects included desert landscape scenes from California and Arizona. He exhibited locally and died in Merced, California.
